Free tool · unofficial estimate
Expert Fee calculator.
Enter your rolling 52-week gross profit and see roughly where you sit against Betfair's Expert Fee tiers. An honest estimate — not an official figure.
Read this before you rely on the number. This is an unofficial estimate to illustrate the tiers. It excludes the Buffer (which reduces the fee for recent losses and commission generated — often to less, sometimes to zero) and the commission you have already paid (which offsets it). Your real charge is usually lower than shown. Always confirm current figures on Betfair's official Expert Fee FAQ. Terms change.
The worked example
£120,000 of rolling 52-week gross profit: nothing on the first £25,000, 20% on the next £75,000 (£15,000), 40% on the £20,000 above £100,000 (£8,000) — an estimated £23,000, a 19.2% effective rate, keeping about £97,000 before the Buffer and commission offset reduce it further. If your gross profit is under £25,000 — which covers the overwhelming majority of exchange users — the fee is zero.
Straight answers
How is the Betfair Expert Fee calculated?
It is based on your rolling 52-week gross profit on the Betfair Exchange. There is no fee up to £25,000, 20% on profit between £25,000 and £100,000, and 40% above £100,000 (capped). A Buffer then reduces it for recent losses and commission already paid.
Is this Expert Fee calculator official?
No. It is a free, unofficial estimate to illustrate roughly where a level of gross profit sits against the tiers. It excludes the Buffer (which reduces the fee) and the commission you have already paid (which offsets it). Always confirm current figures on Betfair's official Expert Fee FAQ.
Who pays the Betfair Expert Fee?
Only a small number of the most consistently profitable Exchange customers. If your rolling 52-week gross profit is under £25,000, you pay no Expert Fee at all.
Did the Expert Fee replace the Premium Charge?
Yes — Betfair replaced the long-standing Premium Charge with the Expert Fee in January 2025. The old charge was based on lifetime profitability at rates up to 60%; the Expert Fee uses a rolling 52-week window with 20% and 40% bands.
Knowing the real costs before you start is what separates a desk from a dream.
